National News

Last week, Democratic leaders in the House pulled federal funding for new contraceptive services and current programs to stop sexually transmitted diseases from the $825 billion economic stimulus bill after Reps. John Boehner (R-Ohio), Eric Cantor (R-Virginia), and Mike Pence (R-Indiana) cast a spotlight on the multi-billion dollar plunder for family planning.  Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for America (CWA), wrote an article in the style of C. S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters in response to this outlandish spending titled, “Pelosi’s Abortion 'Stimulus' Fails.  For Now.”  You can find it at  http://www.cwa.org and http://www.humanevents.com.  “Nancy Pelosi defended the massive pay-off to her political ally Planned Parenthood by claiming that reducing the number of America’s children will benefit government. … Rather than complain that America’s children are a drain on government health care and education, Congress should stop growing government programs.  Value children, not government.  Reduce spending, not people,” said Wendy in a CWA press release.

Texas News

Texas United States Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison supports Roe v. Wade. Recently, Senator Hutchison has made it known that she is running for the Governor of Texas in the 2010 election. In 2003 she strongly endorsed Roe, by voting for the following resolution on the floor of the Senate.

Senate Roll Call No. 48, 108th Congress, 1st Session
Statement of Purpose: To express the sense of the Senate concerning the decision of the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade.

She has consistantly supported Roe since she was elected to the US Senate in 1993. At that time she was endorsed by the pro-abortion rights WISH list

Please contact U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and ask her to reverse her support of Roe v. Wade. Texas does not need or want a governor who supports Roe v. Wade.
